About BER to Estrel Berlin
The Estrel Berlin is a large hotel, congress and entertainment complex on Sonnenallee in Neukölln, set on the Neukölln ship canal. Alongside the hotel and the Estrel Congress Center it includes a show venue, and the new Estrel Tower adds a high-rise to the site.
How long does the taxi from BER to the Estrel take?
Roughly 18 to 22 km, almost entirely on motorway: the A113 towards the city, then the A100 to the Sonnenallee exit. From the exit the Estrel is only a few hundred metres along Sonnenallee. Without traffic, 20 to 30 minutes is typical; in the weekday evening peak the A100 junction at Neukölln can add a quarter of an hour.
That short distance is why many congress guests skip the train: with luggage, the S-Bahn involves a change, while the taxi goes door to door. More on the area: airport taxi to Neukölln.
Hotel, Tower or Congress Center: which door do you need?
- Estrel Berlin – the main hotel on Sonnenallee, on the bank of the Neukölln ship canal. The car pulls up in front of the main lobby.
- Estrel Tower – the new high-rise beside the hotel. According to the Estrel, it has its own Tower Lobby and a car park linked to it by a covered walkway. If your room is in the Tower, say so when booking.
- Estrel Congress Center – the congress and event halls attached to the hotel. For big meetings, check your delegate information for the registration entrance and pass that on to the driver.

Congress days: when it gets busy at the Estrel
On the first morning of a large congress, hundreds of delegates arrive within a short window. Taxis queue on Sonnenallee and the forecourt fills up. Arriving the evening before avoids most of that, and you can collect your badge without pressure. On the final afternoon the same happens in reverse, when everyone heads back to BER at the same time; booking your return car in advance means it is already reserved for you when the sessions end. Our page on congress taxis in Berlin lists other venues.
Taxi rank versus pre-booked car on this short route
At the BER rank, the meter runs on the official tariff, and on a short trip like this the amount looks manageable – until you hit a jam on the A100. With a pre-booked car you see the total for the whole vehicle before you confirm and pay online. For colleagues travelling together, a minivan or minibus can carry the whole team plus roll-up banners and sample cases in one go; see group transfers.
Landing late: why the Estrel is an easy night arrival
After about 11 pm, trains from BER run less often, and a change with luggage at Neukölln or Ostkreuz is no fun at that hour. The motorway, by contrast, is almost empty: the taxi reaches Sonnenallee in roughly 20 minutes. If your flight is due close to midnight, let the hotel know you will check in late, and enter your flight number in the booking so the driver adjusts to the actual landing time. Our guide to late-night arrivals at BER has more tips.

What to tell the driver
Name "Estrel" and add hotel, Tower or Congress Center. If you are coming for an evening show in the Estrel's own theatre, mention the time so the driver knows your schedule. For a family, add the number of child seats. At BER, the driver waits at the meeting point given in your confirmation (see meeting point at BER) and follows your flight number if you land late.
