About Berlin congress taxi
Berlin is one of Europe's busiest congress cities, with medical societies, tech communities and policy forums spread across purpose-built halls like the bcc and CityCube and historic addresses such as Pariser Platz.
Congress or trade fair: where exactly is your taxi heading?
Unlike the big fairs, Berlin's congresses do not share one address. Medical societies favour CityCube and hub27 on the exhibition grounds in the west, while policy and science meetings sit in Mitte, close to the government district. From the BER terminals, Mitte is about 25 km and usually 30 to 45 minutes by taxi; the grounds in Charlottenburg are a good 10 km further. Check the venue line on your badge confirmation before you book, because "Berlin congress" can mean either end of town. For fairs, see our trade fair calendar.
Three Mitte venues and where the car stops
- Berlin Congress Center (bcc) – Alexanderstraße, the 1960s hall with the aluminium dome next to the Haus des Lehrers. Your driver pulls in on Alexanderstraße; the main room under the dome seats about 1,000. Details for the area: BER to Alexanderplatz.
- AXICA Congress and Conference Centre – Pariser Platz, inside the bank building with the Frank Gehry interior. The square itself is car-free, so the taxi stops on a side street such as Behrenstraße and you walk the last metres. See BER to Brandenburg Gate.
- Haus Ungarn Berlin – Karl-Liebknecht-Straße, a short walk from Alexanderplatz. Seven rooms, an old cinema hall and a terrace facing the TV Tower; the busy road means drop-off works best on the building side of the street.
Congress calendar: spring and summer
- Berlin Energy Transition Dialogue – traditionally in spring with the Federal Foreign Office; the organisers say the usual format is under review.
- re:publica Berlin – May, digital society festival at STATION Berlin near Gleisdreieck (Kreuzberg).
- EULAR Congress – Europe's rheumatology congress rotates between cities; when Berlin hosts, it fills the exhibition grounds in June.
- Long Night of Sciences Berlin – one Saturday in June, labs in Adlershof, Dahlem, Buch and Mitte open late.
- WeAreDevelopers World Congress – July, CityCube, south entrance on Jafféstraße.
- droidcon Berlin – Android developer conference in CityCube; it has run in summer and in autumn.
Congress calendar: autumn
- Berlin Global Dialogue – early autumn at ESMT Berlin on Schlossplatz, the former State Council building.
- World Health Summit Berlin – October, InterContinental on Budapester Straße near Zoologischer Garten.
- Berlin Science Week – the first ten days of November, events across the city.
- Falling Walls Science Summit – early November, around the 9th, at the Science House on Karl-Marx-Allee.
- SAP TechEd Berlin – November, exhibition grounds, south entrance.
- DGN Congress – neurology, November, CityCube.
- Deutscher Pflegetag – November, nursing congress in hub27.
- DGPPN Congress – psychiatry, late November, CityCube.
When traffic gets tight
Inner Mitte is slowest on weekday mornings from 7:30 and between 16:00 and 18:30. Around Pariser Platz and Unter den Linden, short-notice closures for state visits or demonstrations are common, so build in 15 minutes. In November, when DGPPN, DGN and Falling Walls overlap, hotels near Alexanderplatz and in the City West fill up and evening taxis are scarce. A business transfer booked for a fixed time sidesteps the hunt.
What to tell your driver
Give the venue and the entrance, not just the congress name: CityCube and hub27 are reached from Jafféstraße, the bcc from Alexanderstraße. Add your flight number so a delay is covered; the meeting point at BER is in your confirmation. Venue listings: visitBerlin ↗.
