About Berlin city centre
Central Berlin brings together historic places such as Unter den Linden and Museum Island with business districts, hotels and busy squares. The exact part of the centre matters for the final leg of your journey.
Choose a destination before choosing transport
Ask for the hotel's full address, not just “city centre”. A room near Potsdamer Platz can be convenient from the direct FEX; a stay by Alexanderplatz may fit the S9 better. A Hauptbahnhof connection is useful for onward rail travel. A car booking also needs the exact street and number for an accurate offer and a workable stopping point. For local details, compare our Potsdamer Platz, Alexanderplatz and Hauptbahnhof guides.
From the BER terminal to the city
The airport station is beneath Terminal 1 on level U2; from Terminal 2 follow the signs via Terminal 1. The airport's transport page lists FEX, RE20 and S9 routes and current service information. Check the train's destination and any disruption on the day. BER lies in tariff zone C, so an ordinary journey into central Berlin requires a Berlin ABC ticket; verify current conditions with BVG.
Compare the entire door-to-door journey
Rail can avoid road congestion and works especially well when the hotel is near a direct stop. Include the walk from baggage claim to the platform and from the final station to the door. A private car can suit families, groups or bulky luggage because everyone travels together to the supplied address. The partner shows the price for the chosen route, vehicle and extras before payment; an airport-rank taxi is metered. For the trip back, allow time for the airline's check-in and security deadlines, not just the journey to BER.
