About Taxi to Potsdam hotels
Potsdam's hotels range from historic buildings around Luisenplatz and the Brandenburg Gate to conference hotels on the Templiner See and a forest inn in the Wildpark. Most lie within a few kilometres of Sanssouci Park, but the access roads differ considerably.
How long does the ride to a Potsdam hotel take?
From BER, plan on 45–70 minutes. Lakeside hotels in the south-west of the city are often reached faster via the motorway ring, while the old town can be quicker via the AVUS in the evening. Because the address is in the booking, your driver plans the route before you land; the total price for the vehicle is fixed beforehand, so a detour around roadworks does not change what you pay. The general hotel transfer page covers questions about luggage and late check-in.
Old town and Luisenplatz
- Hotel Am Luisenplatz Potsdam – right on the square at the western end of Brandenburger Straße. Cars can pull up on the square's edge; the Brandenburg Gate is across the road.
- Hotel Brandenburger Tor Potsdam – next to Potsdam's own Brandenburg Gate on Luisenplatz. The pedestrian zone starts here, so the car stops on the square rather than in Brandenburger Straße.
- Hotel am Jägertor Potsdam – on Hegelallee beside the Jägertor, the oldest surviving city gate. Hegelallee is a busy avenue with a central reservation; the driver approaches on the hotel's side.
- NH Potsdam – on Friedrich-Ebert-Straße at the edge of the Dutch Quarter. Trams run along this street, so drivers often stop in a side street a few steps away.
- Mercure Hotel Potsdam City – the tall building at the Lange Brücke, between the Havel, the main station and the Alter Markt. Drop-off is directly in front of the entrance.
On the edge of Sanssouci Park
- MAXX Hotel Sanssouci Potsdam – on Allee nach Sanssouci, a few steps from the Grünes Gitter park entrance. Ideal if the Chinese House or the Peace Church is on your list.
- Dorint Sanssouci Berlin/Potsdam – on Jägerallee between the old town and the Bornstedt district, within walking distance of the park. It has its own driveway, which suits larger vehicles.

On the Templiner See and in the Wildpark
- Kongresshotel Potsdam am Templiner See – at the Luftschiffhafen on the northern shore of the lake, next to the sports facilities. The access road leaves traffic on Zeppelinstraße behind; conference guests can be set down at the main entrance.
- Seminaris SeeHotel Potsdam – An der Pirschheide, on the lake further west, surrounded by woodland. It is quiet in the evening, so pre-booking the return trip makes sense.
- Hotel Bayrisches Haus Potsdam – a country hotel in the middle of the Wildpark forest, south-west of Sanssouci. The last stretch is a forest road; navigation systems sometimes suggest closed tracks, so enter the hotel name as well as the address.
Checklist for arrival day
- Check-in time: most hotels allow early arrivals to leave luggage, but ask before booking a morning flight.
- Late arrival: if you land after reception closes, request the night-entry instructions and add them to the booking notes.
- Events: during the music festival in June or the Christmas season, hotels near Luisenplatz fill up early.
- Groups: lakeside hotels have space for minivans; old-town lanes are tighter.

Leaving Potsdam for BER
For early departures, book the ride the evening before and have your driver collect you at the hotel entrance. From the lakeside hotels, the motorway is close; from the old town, allow extra time for the Lange Brücke. More about the city is on the Potsdam page, and film fans heading to Babelsberg will find the studio gates on Filmpark Babelsberg. If you are staying in Berlin before or after, see hotels in Mitte.
