About BER to Brandenburg Gate
The Brandenburg Gate is Berlin's best-known landmark and stands between Pariser Platz and the Tiergarten. The boulevard Unter den Linden leads east from it, and the Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe lies a short walk to the south.
Where can a car stop near the Brandenburg Gate?
Regular traffic ends at the gate itself. Pariser Platz on the eastern side is a pedestrian square, and nobody drives through the arches. Your driver therefore picks a kerb nearby: Ebertstraße, which runs north to south past the gate along the edge of the Tiergarten, is the usual choice. From there it is a short walk onto the square.
Coming from the airport, the car normally approaches from Potsdamer Platz, so the stretch of Ebertstraße south of the gate is reached first. If you are heading to the Reichstag side instead, say so: the driver can continue north towards Scheidemannstraße.
Unter den Linden: name the cross street
The boulevard runs east from Pariser Platz towards the Schlossbrücke and Museum Island. "Unter den Linden" alone is too vague for a driver, because the street is long and stopping in the middle lanes is not possible. Give the nearest cross street instead, for example Wilhelmstraße, Glinkastraße, Friedrichstraße or Charlottenstraße.
Staying at the hotel on the corner of Pariser Platz? The Hotel Adlon page covers the arrival there. Plans to redesign the boulevard are under discussion, so short-term diversions are possible.
Holocaust Memorial: which corner to ask for
The field of grey concrete stelae lies a few minutes south of the gate, framed by Ebertstraße, Behrenstraße, Hannah-Arendt-Straße and Cora-Berliner-Straße. All four sides are public streets, so a drop-off is easy compared with Pariser Platz.
- Ebertstraße side – best if you want to walk on to the gate or the Tiergarten.
- Cora-Berliner-Straße – closer to the underground information centre on the eastern part of the site.
How long does the taxi take from BER?
The distance is roughly 25 to 30 km. Outside rush hour the ride usually takes 35 to 50 minutes via the A113 and A100. On weekday mornings and late afternoons, plan for an hour or more. A taxi from the rank at BER charges by meter, so every jam is added to the fare. With a pre-booked car you see the total price for the whole vehicle before you confirm. More on that comparison on the airport taxi page.
When the area around the gate is closed
The gate is Berlin's favourite stage. Around New Year's Eve, the finish of the Berlin Marathon, the Festival of Lights, football fan zones and state visits, Straße des 17. Juni and parts of Ebertstraße are fenced off for days. Your driver then stops at Potsdamer Platz or near Friedrichstraße station, and you walk the last part. If your arrival falls on such a date, add a comment in the booking.

What to tell the driver
Enter your flight number so pickup moves with delays. Write the hotel name and street, not just "Brandenburg Gate". Mention bulky luggage, prams or child seats. Payment is handled through the booking, so there is no card terminal discussion at the kerb.
