Between Ostkreuz and the Volkspark
Friedrichshain runs from the Volkspark in the north along the broad Karl-Marx-Allee with its post-war architecture down to the Spree, where the East Side Gallery, an events arena and the office buildings of the Mediaspree riverside stand. To the east, Ostkreuz station brings together numerous S-Bahn lines; to the south lies Ostbahnhof. The neighbourhood around Boxhagener Platz and Simon-Dach-Straße, by contrast, is small-scale and densely built.
Nightlife and weekend traffic
Around the riverside clubs and the RAW site there is considerably more going on at weekends and at night than during the day, which makes stopping in the adjoining streets harder.
