One airport instead of three
Since BER opened at the end of 2020, all scheduled Berlin air traffic has been handled at a single site; Tegel is closed and the former Schönefeld Terminal 5 has been out of service since 2023. For travellers that means every route leads to the south-east of the city, whatever the airline. If you remember earlier trips to Berlin, recalculate your journey time rather than carrying it over from the Tegel years.
What to settle before you land
Three things save the most stress at the airport: the terminal for your flight, the exact destination address with house number, and how you will leave the terminal. For the last point the choices are train, bus, taxi rank or a pre-booked ride. The more luggage, the larger the group and the later the arrival, the more the decision tends towards a fixed pickup.
