About Mitte
Berlin-Mitte includes Museum Island, the government quarter, Alexanderplatz and many smaller streets with hotels and restaurants. It is a large, varied district; the exact address determines where your ride ends.
Which Mitte do you mean?
The borough of Mitte includes several localities, among them central Mitte, Moabit, Wedding and Tiergarten. A fare or travel-time estimate for “Mitte” alone can therefore be misleading. Even within central Mitte, Museum Island, Hackescher Markt and the government quarter call for different final stops. Add a street number and, for a hotel, its actual entrance. Our government-quarter guide and Museum Island guide show two distinct parts of the area.
Match the rail line to the address
From the BER station beneath Terminal 1, S9 reaches Alexanderplatz and Friedrichstraße without changing; FEX reaches Potsdamer Platz and Hauptbahnhof. Which is better depends on the final address and onward walk or connection. Terminal 2 adds a signed walk to the T1 station. Consult the BER route list and live departures before leaving. BER is in zone C; a trip to central Berlin requires a ticket covering Berlin ABC.

When to book a car
A booked car may save a further change for an address away from the direct rail stops, especially with children or several bags. Supply all passengers and luggage and confirm the exact destination; city-centre streets can have temporary restrictions. The partner displays its route-specific total before payment, while a taxi taken at the rank runs on the applicable tariff. If the destination is actually Alexanderplatz, use our more precise Alexanderplatz page instead of this broad area guide.
