The station is under the terminal
The airport railway station lies directly beneath Terminal 1 on level U2 and is reached on foot without leaving the building. Regional and S-Bahn trains run from there towards the city centre. For travellers with little luggage it is the cheapest connection; fares follow the VBB tariff, for journeys from the airport into the city usually the Berlin ABC zone.
The sum does not end at the station
A train ticket takes you to a station, not to your accommodation. Count the leg from the arrival station to the address: a change, a walk with suitcases, possibly stairs without a lift. For one person with hand luggage and a hotel by the station, the train is usually unbeatable. For four people with large cases and an address away from the rail lines the comparison often flips, because a transfer is charged per vehicle.

Common journey questions
What is the cheapest way from BER into Berlin?
The train is often the simplest low-cost choice for one traveller with light luggage. The FEX takes about 23 minutes between BER and Hauptbahnhof; allow additional time for the terminal walk, waiting and any onward connection. Check the correct VBB ticket before travelling. Source: BER Airport.
