About Alexanderplatz & Hackescher Markt hotels
Alexanderplatz is East Berlin's large open square below the TV tower, framed by department stores and the World Clock. A few minutes' walk west, Hackescher Markt and the Spandauer Vorstadt are known for their courtyards, galleries and lively bars.
Why the last kilometre matters more than the motorway
From BER to Alexanderplatz is roughly 25 to 30 km. The motorway part is quick; the time goes into the final stretch along the Spree, over the bridges and through the tram junctions. Allow 35 to 50 minutes in normal traffic and up to an hour in the weekday evening peak. Early on a Sunday morning, 30 minutes is realistic.
The square itself is a pedestrian zone criss-crossed by tram lines, so no car stops "on Alexanderplatz". Every hotel below has a street address the driver can reach. The Alexanderplatz page covers the square, the TV tower and nearby sights; the Park Inn page covers the tower hotel on the square.
Right at Alexanderplatz
- H4 Hotel Berlin Alexanderplatz and H2 Hotel Berlin Alexanderplatz – both on Karl-Liebknecht-Straße in the same building complex. Say which of the two you booked; the reception desks are separate, but the car stops at the shared kerb on Karl-Liebknecht-Straße.
- Motel One Berlin Alexanderplatz – Grunerstraße, on the south side of the square. The drop-off is on the hotel side of the multi-lane road.
- Hampton by Hilton Berlin City Centre Alexanderplatz – Otto-Braun-Straße, north-east of the square towards Friedrichshain. Easier to reach by car than the square itself.
- Classik Hotel Alexander Plaza – Rosenstraße, a short street between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt. Quiet enough for a calm unloading stop.
Hackescher Markt and Spandauer Vorstadt
- Motel One Berlin Hackescher Markt – Dircksenstraße, alongside the S-Bahn arches. Tram tracks run close by; the driver stops at the hotel entrance rather than on the tracks.
- Hotel ZOE by AMANO – Große Präsidentenstraße, a small street just off Hackescher Markt. Narrow, but a short stop is possible directly at the door.
- Hotel Telegraphenamt Berlin – Monbijoustraße, in the former telegraph office opposite Monbijoupark. Give the hotel name; the building is large and the entrance faces Monbijoustraße.
- The Weinmeister Berlin-Mitte and Casa Camper Berlin – both on Weinmeisterstraße, a few doors apart near the U-Bahn station of the same name. Name your hotel so you are dropped at the right one.
- Hotel AMANO Rooms & Apartments – in the Spandauer Vorstadt a short walk from Rosenthaler Platz.
- The Circus Hotel Berlin – directly on Rosenthaler Platz. The junction is busy with trams; the car pulls into the side of the square where the hotel is.
The courtyards and lanes of this quarter are described on the Hackesche Höfe page.
South of the square: Fischerinsel and Märkisches Ufer
- Novotel Berlin Mitte – Fischerinsel, on the Spree island south of the Museum Island. The approach is via Gertraudenstraße or Mühlendamm.
- Capri by Fraser Berlin – Scharrenstraße, near Petriplatz on the same island. A short, quiet street that is pleasant for unloading.
- art'otel Berlin Mitte – Wallstraße on the Märkisches Ufer, across the canal from Fischerinsel. Mention "art'otel Mitte" because the brand has had another Berlin address in the past.
North-west Mitte and Prenzlauer Berg
- Leonardo Hotel Berlin Mitte – Bertolt-Brecht-Platz near the Berliner Ensemble theatre, just across the Spree from Friedrichstraße station.
- INNSiDE by Meliá Berlin Mitte – Chausseestraße in the Oranienburger Vorstadt, north of Oranienburger Tor.
- H+ Hotel Berlin Mitte – also on Chausseestraße, further north towards Wedding. Tell the driver "H+" so the car does not stop at INNSiDE first.
- Adina Apartment Hotel Berlin Mitte – Platz vor dem Neuen Tor, close to the Charité campus and a short ride from Berlin Hauptbahnhof.
- Hotel Oderberger Berlin – Oderberger Straße in Prenzlauer Berg, inside the restored public baths. Not at Alexanderplatz at all, but often booked together with Mitte stays; the drive takes about ten minutes longer.

What to tell your driver, and what you get
Give the hotel name and the street. If you booked an apartment in one of the aparthotels, add the building name or entrance shown in your reservation. At the BER taxi rank you would pay what the meter shows on arrival; with a pre-booked car the total for the vehicle is visible before you confirm, and you can pay online and keep the receipt. Families can add a child seat during booking.
