About BER to Uber Arena
The Uber Arena in Friedrichshain is one of Germany's largest indoor venues, home to the Eisbären Berlin ice hockey team and ALBA Berlin basketball, and a stop for major concert tours. The Uber Eats Music Hall and the restaurants of Uber Platz stand next to it, a few steps from the East Side Gallery.
How long does the taxi from BER to the Uber Arena take?
The arena is on the eastern side of the centre, between Ostbahnhof and Warschauer Straße, about 22 to 26 km from the terminal. The taxi usually runs via the A113 and Treptow and reaches the arena quarter in 30 to 40 minutes. On event evenings, allow 15 to 20 minutes more for the final stretch along Mühlenstraße and Warschauer Straße, where fans, buses and ride-hail cars converge in the hour before doors open.
Where does the car stop at the arena?
The square in front of both venues, Uber Platz (formerly Mercedes-Platz), is a pedestrian area with restaurants, a cinema and the entrances. Cars cannot drive onto it. Your driver stops on one of the surrounding streets, usually on the Mühlenstraße side by the East Side Gallery or towards Warschauer Straße, depending on closures that night. From there it is a short walk across the square.
- Uber Arena – the large multi-purpose arena for concerts, ice hockey and basketball, with capacity for many thousands of spectators.
- Uber Eats Music Hall – the smaller concert hall on the same square, previously known as Verti Music Hall. Ideal for club-sized shows; the drop-off is the same as for the arena.
The venue publishes access information on the official Uber Arena website ↗.
Drop off your suitcase before the show
Arenas generally do not let large bags or suitcases inside, so check the venue's bag rules before travelling. The easiest plan: take the taxi from BER to your hotel first, check in or leave your luggage, then walk or ride the short distance to the arena. Several hotels are within walking distance of Uber Platz; our page on hotels in Friedrichshain and Kreuzberg lists them with their drop-off points.
Game nights: ALBA Berlin and the Eisbären
Basketball and ice hockey fill the arena on many evenings during the season, which runs roughly from autumn into spring. Game nights start earlier than most concerts and draw a lot of families, so traffic builds from late afternoon. Travelling with children? Add the right child seats to your booking and allow time for a hotel stop first. For away fans flying in for a single game, a minivan shared by a group is often the most relaxed option; see our overview of sports events in Berlin.
Event day timing: a quick checklist
- Land at least three hours before doors open if you want to drop bags at a hotel first.
- Give the driver your hotel address, not the arena, when you still have luggage.
- Expect slow traffic on Mühlenstraße from about 90 minutes before the show.
- After the event, the area is crowded with people heading for Warschauer Straße station; walking a few blocks before getting into a car saves time.

Why book instead of joining the taxi queue at BER?
At the BER rank, the meter starts on the official tariff and keeps running if Mühlenstraße is blocked before a show. A pre-booked airport taxi shows the total for the whole vehicle before you confirm, and the driver waits at the meeting point in the arrivals hall even if your flight is late. Groups of fans can choose a minivan or minibus and share one fixed price. More about the surroundings: airport taxi to Friedrichshain and East Side Gallery.
