About FRUIT LOGISTICA
FRUIT LOGISTICA is the leading international trade fair for the fresh fruit and vegetable business, held each February at Berlin's exhibition grounds. It covers the whole chain from growers and breeders to packaging, logistics and retail.
When is FRUIT LOGISTICA and who attends?
FRUIT LOGISTICA is usually held in early February, from Wednesday to Friday, across almost all halls of the exhibition grounds under the Funkturm. It is a trade-only event for growers, importers, retailers, packaging and logistics firms, and the stands come from every continent. Most visitors fly in on Monday or Tuesday and spend the evenings at dinners with customers, so you will often move between the halls, a hotel and a restaurant several times a day. Other dates on the grounds: trade fair calendar.
How long does a taxi from BER to the halls take in February?
Allow 35 to 50 minutes for the 35 km via the A113 and A100 outside rush hour. Winter weather and the Monday or Tuesday arrival peak can push that to 70 minutes, and the bridge rebuilding near the Funkturm junction slows Messedamm. If you land after 15:00, go to the hotel first and visit the halls the next morning. Route details: BER to Messe Berlin.
Early starts and breakfast meetings
Many deals are discussed before the halls open. If your first appointment is a breakfast at the hotel and your stand meeting starts at 9:00, book the ride for 8:15: the stretch from Kurfürstendamm to the grounds takes 10 to 15 minutes but can double when commuters and exhibitors arrive together. Hotels in the City West are the practical base; see hotels on Ku'damm and City West.
Evenings: dinners across town
Customer dinners rarely happen next to the Messe. Restaurants in Mitte, Kreuzberg or around Savignyplatz are popular, and at 22:30 on a February weeknight free taxis can be hard to find in the cold. If you host a group, book the ride from the restaurant back to the hotel in advance with a fixed time, or keep one larger vehicle for the evening as separate legs. Paying online up front also means no discussion about splitting a meter fare at the kerb.
Which gate for your hall?
Because FRUIT LOGISTICA fills nearly every hall, the walk from the wrong gate can easily take 15 minutes. Check your hall in the exhibitor list and ask to be dropped at Masurenallee (north), Messedamm (east) or Jafféstraße (south). Sales teams of five or six travel well in a larger car; see transfer for 6 passengers.
Friday afternoon: everyone heads for BER
On the final day the halls empty from early afternoon, and the Friday rush on the A100 southbound starts earlier than on other weekdays. Reserve a pickup slot at your nearest gate, count on 75 minutes or more to the terminal, and enter your flight number. If you are staying on, note that the Berlinale usually starts a week or two later and hotels fill up again. Timing tips: Berlin to BER.
