Park, government quarter and main station
The Tiergarten district is defined above all by its large park, with the Victory Column at the centre. Around it lie the government quarter, numerous embassies, the Kulturforum with the Philharmonie, the Hansaviertel, and to the north the main station. Many addresses here are office buildings or institutions with their own approaches rather than ordinary residential houses.
When Straße des 17. Juni is closed
The avenue through the Tiergarten is regularly used for major events: the marathon, cycle races, parades or celebrations. On those days through routes and stopping places in the park are closed and approaches run from outside. For the main station there is a further point: it has separate approaches on different levels.
